Spirituality

practice a form of spirituality

 “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”  —Matthew 4:4 NIV

Food for our bodies is important and helps you live, but nourishing the soul and having a relationship with God is another major component in helping me truly live!

Spirituality plays an important role in helping you truly live. Whether you are religious, spiritual, you meditate, pray, or whatever you believe in my hope is to provide spiritual encouragement, motivation, help and resources to help you become more spiritual in your life.

What does spirituality look like in my life?

Faith is a huge part of my daily life. It’s what keeps me sane in this crazy world. It’s what gives me the hope, faith and confidence to move past my fears and truly live! Spirituality to me is all about LOVE…loving God, and loving ALL people no matter how different you are then me. My desire is to share that love with everyone around me, every day of my life. I always grew up believing in God and attended many different types of churches and learned about many different religions. I read the bible periodically and prayed at times, but it wasn’t until my junior year in high school where I really fell in love with God. Growing up in Long Beach with my brothers and sisters I was around a lot of gang violence, partying, drinking, drugs and the like. I knew I didn’t want to walk down that road, but what else was out there? When I was 16 years old, I ended up studying the bible and learned about my sin and the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for me. I decided to leave my old life and old ways and I got baptized and became a part of an awesome non denominational Christian church. That was in 1999. It has been an incredible journey of constant growth and maturity and I am beyond thankful to all the great examples in my life who have helped me in my walk with God. Now as an adult I enjoy serving as a mentor in the Youth & Family Ministry at my church. It has been incredible seeing the lives of teenagers and their families transformed and amazing to be a part of it. I don’t know where I’d be at without God in my life and the support of my church family. Nature is also a big part of my life and helps me to release stress and help me feel closer to God as well. I try to enjoy it in my life as much as possible.

My Favorite Scriptures:
Proverbs 3:5-7
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.

Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Don’t worry, Be happy!
Scriptures to help you ease your worries:
Luke 12:25
25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life[a]?

Matthew 6:34
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Philippians 4:6
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

How I try to live my life every day:
Colossians 3:23
23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man.
