practice a form of spirituality

“It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”  —Matthew 4:4 NIV

Food for our bodies is important and helps you live, but nourishing the soul and having a relationship with God is another major component in helping me truly live!

Spirituality plays an important role in helping you truly live. Whether you are religious, spiritual, you meditate, pray, do yoga or whatever you believe in my hope is to provide spiritual encouragement, words, motivation, help and resources to help you become more spiritual in your life.

What does spirituality look like in my life?

Faith is a huge part of my daily life. It’s what keeps me sane in this crazy world. It’s what gives me the hope, faith and confidence to move past my fears and truly live! I always grew up believing in God and attended almost every type of church and learned about every type of religion there is out there. I read the bible periodically and prayed at times. But it wasn’t until my junior year in high school where I really fell in love with God. Growing up in Long Beach with my brothers and sisters I was around a lot of gang violence, partying, drinking, drugs and the like. I knew I didn’t want to walk down that road, but what else was out there? When I was 16 I ended up studying the bible and learning about my sin and the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for me. I decided to leave my old life and old ways and I got baptized and became a part of an awesome non denominational Christian church. That was in 1999. It has been an incredible journey of constant growth and maturity and I am beyond thankful to all the great examples in my life who have helped me in my walk with God. Now as an adult I enjoy mentoring + helping out the Youth & Family Ministry at my church. It has been incredible seeing the lives of teenagers transformed and amazing being a part of it. I don’t know where I’d be at without God in my life and the support of my church family.

fear the Lord and shun evil.

Jeremiah 29:11
